This bit is made of solid Cuprigan—a 89% copper, 7% aluminum, 3% iron, and 1% zinc alloy—mounted on stainless steel components. As it oxidizes, the material releases a pleasant smell and taste. Its anatomical shape conforms to the horse’s mouth and distributes pressure gently and evenly.
A Baucher bit has upward-curving cheeks ending in a ring, which attaches to the cheekpieces of the headpiece. Unlike other snaffle bits, it has a slight leverage effect and exerts pressure behind the ears. The cheeks curve slightly outward, giving the horse’s head greater freedom of movement. 🧴 Care instructions
Rinse the bit with clean water after each use. ⚠️ Cuprigan tarnishes and turns green as it oxidizes: this is the alloy’s normal behavior, not a defect, and it should not be removed with an abrasive product. Measure the width from one ring to the other, with the mouthpiece stretched out. ⚠️ A bit that is too narrow pinches the corners of the mouth; one that is too wide moves around in the mouth and hits the teeth.
