A sweet iron eggbutt bit with a blue patina and a single-jointed twisted mouthpiece.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ Single joint with both sides twisted. The twisting creates edges, resulting in a more pronounced action on the bars than a smooth single joint.
- ✔ The rings do not slide: the bit stays in a stable position in the horse's mouth, and the hand's action is transmitted more directly. The eggbutt sides do not pinch the lips, so bit guards are unnecessary.

🐎 Why choose this product?
The twisting intensifies the action on the bars: this is a bit for occasional corrective use and should not be left in a horse's mouth for extended periods.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit sizer, or use the measurement of the bit it currently wears: too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour changes to silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange coating appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ This mouthpiece is not suitable for sensitive horses or inexperienced riders.
