✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacture by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a sweet-tasting surface oxidation that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ A simple twisted joint that locks when it bends: under tension, the mouthpiece acts like a straight mouthpiece, then becomes a simple joint again as soon as the rider softens the contact. The twist adds edges, resulting in a more pronounced action.
- ✔ The rings do not slide: the bit maintains a stable position in the mouth and the hand's action is transmitted more directly. The eggbutt cheeks do not pinch the lips, so bit guards are unnecessary.

🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit ruler, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if it is too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if it is too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange coating appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ Corrective mouthpiece for horses that lean on the bit or run through the hand. Not suitable for sensitive horses or inexperienced riders.
