- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ Single-jointed barrel fitted with loose rollers on each side. The rollers discourage the horse from grabbing the bit or locking it between its teeth.
- ✔ The rings slide freely through the barrel, and their large diameter provides more leverage than an ordinary ring.

🧴 Directions for use
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the barrel from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ Fit rubber bit guards: it is between the movable ring and the barrel that the corner of the mouth gets pinched. ⚠️ The blue colour changes to silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orangey film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
