✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blue-finished during manufacturing by heating. When it comes into contact with humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ A succession of articulated elliptical links: the barrel conforms to every shape and offers no fixed point of leverage. Used on heavy-mouthed horses that have difficulty relaxing their jaw.
- ✔ A combination of a Pelham and a loose-ring gag: a loose ring with two holes on each side, through which a leather strap passes. The pressure points are the chin and poll. It can be used with one or two reins.

🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the barrel from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it currently wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ Combined leverage and curb-chain action: for experienced riders only. ⚠️ The blue colour changes to silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ Very mobile barrel, for experienced and steady hands only.
