Eggbutt bridle snaffle made of mild steel with a blue patina and a medium tongue-relief barrel.

✨ Key features

  • ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
  • ✔ Straight barrel with medium tongue relief: more room for the tongue and less pressure on its center.
  • ✔ Small fixed rings: stable position in the mouth and direct action. This format is used as a snaffle on a bridle (12 mm) or as a barrel for a hackamore (12 or 16 mm).

📋 Technical specifications

  • Type: eggbutt bridle snaffle
  • Material: Sweet Iron
  • Barrel: with medium tongue relief
  • Barrel thickness: 16 mm
  • Sizes (mm): 115 / 125 / 135 / 145

🐎 Why choose this product?

The most common compromise between pressure on the bars and tongue freedom.

🧴 Usage tips

⚠️ Bit size is given in millimeters: this is the width of the barrel from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit-sizing tool, or measure the bit it currently wears: if it is too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if it is too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue color turns silver-gray or brown-gray with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behavior, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.

About TRUST Equestrian ...

TRUST Equestrian is a Dutch brand specializing in bits and leatherwork. Its bits are designed, developed, and manufactured in the Netherlands, where a team of technicians assembles them by hand. Production of Sweet Iron mouthpieces began more than fifteen years ago, followed by Leather and then Inno Sense mouthpieces. The range now includes three materials, twenty-two mouthpieces, and thirty-four types of shanks, totaling more than two thousand different bits. TRUST bits are anatomically shaped: slightly curved, they follow the shape of the horse’s mouth. The leather collection is made from European full-grain leather, and each model takes the anatomy of the modern horse into account.
