Clearing the spine prevents pressure; ventilating it also removes the heat that builds up in the gullet. This is a step above simply leaving the channel open. ⚠️ A half pad cannot correct a saddle that does not fit. If it is compensating for a saddle that is too wide or too narrow, the saddle needs adjusting—not the addition of a half pad: when used incorrectly, it moves the problem instead of solving it.
🧴 Care instructions
Place the half pad on a clean, dry back, positioning it well up into the saddle’s gullet to clear the withers. ⚠️ The sheepskin should only be washed with a concentrated detergent specifically designed for leather, sheepskin, suede and nubuck: ordinary detergent hardens the leather and felts the wool. Dry flat, never on a heat source.
