The drop noseband features a buckle guard and distributes pressure differently from a French noseband. It is anatomically tapered at the back and raised: slightly elevated, it keeps pressure off the nasal bone. The browband is padded and lined.

The drop noseband fastens below the bit, across the nostrils: it stabilizes the bit and limits mouth opening without ever pressing on the molars, unlike a tight French noseband.
🧴 Care instructions
⚠️ Adjust the noseband so that two fingers fit over the nasal bone, and the throatlash so that one flat hand fits underneath. An overly tight bridle does not make a horse more stable: it prevents the horse from chewing and swallowing. ⚠️ A drop noseband must never sit on the soft part of the nostrils, as it would hinder breathing. Clean with glycerin soap after each use, then condition the leather once it is dry. ⚠️ Never dry leather near a radiator: it will harden and crack.
