A fleece lining under a waterproof sheet absorbs moisture from the coat and glides over it without breaking the hairs. The antistatic treatment prevents the mane from sticking to the fabric. A waterproof sheet is not a cold-weather blanket: without fill, it stops rain and wind but does not provide warmth. That is what an unclipped horse living outdoors needs—it keeps its coat for warmth, while the sheet keeps it from getting soaked. ⚠️ A clipped horse or one exposed to severe cold needs filling.
🧴 Care instructions
Brush the sheet when dry rather than washing it too often: each wash damages the waterproof coating. ⚠️ Do not use fabric softener, as it clogs the breathable membrane. After a few seasons, a reproofing product for technical fabrics will restore the water-repellent finish. ⚠️ The stated size is the back length: measure your horse from the withers to the base of the tail, along the spine. A sheet that is too short pulls on the shoulders and causes wither sores; one that is too long twists and can cause the horse to get its feet caught in it.
