A bell boot covers the heel and the edge of the coronary band, where the hind hoof can strike when the horse pulls off a shoe or brushes itself. It is the horse’s most affordable form of protection and prevents the injury that takes the longest to heal. The genuine sheepskin trim eliminates the only drawback of bell boots: the mark they can leave around the coronary band on a sensitive horse.
🧴 Instructions for use
⚠️ A bell boot that is too large will rotate and be stepped on; one that is too small will rub the coronary band. When the hoof is resting on the ground, it should just touch the ground at the back, and no more. ⚠️ Wash the genuine sheepskin by hand in lukewarm water with a suitable product. Do not machine-wash or tumble-dry it: the leather will harden. Place it on a clean, dry hoof with the opening facing backwards and the Velcro facing outwards, so that a branch cannot open it. It should rest on the ground without tightening around the coronary band. ⚠️ Remove it after the session.
