A breastplate does not hold the saddle in place by magic: it prevents it from sliding backward on a round-backed horse with little or no withers, or on downhill cross-country sections. The long bridge is what sets the Lyon apart: it shifts the point of support lower down the neck.
🧴 Care and use
⚠️ Sold without a martingale fork: TRUST Valkenswaard, Milano, Stockholm, and Helsinki forks are compatible with it. ⚠️ Adjust it so that you can fit one flat hand between the leather and the point of the shoulder: if it is too tight, it restricts the shoulder's range of motion, which shows in the stride before it becomes visible on the coat. Clean with glycerin soap, then condition once the leather is dry. ⚠️ Never dry leather near a radiator: it will harden and crack.
