The warmest of the Alaska IV range: 300 g of fill beneath 1200-denier ripstop fabric, for horses living outdoors in the depths of winter.
The 1200-denier ripstop fabric withstands a 4,000 mm water column and allows 3,000 g of water vapor per m² to pass through in 24 hours: the horse stays dry in the rain without stewing in its own moisture. The rug is made without a back seam, with an extended wither: it measures approximately 10 cm longer than the horse’s back, deliberately, so it sits in front of the wither, covers the shoulder, and does not slip backward when the horse lowers its head. The elasticated shoulder pleat allows freedom of movement, the wither is padded on the inside, the crossed surcingles have an elastic insert, and the smooth lining does not ruffle the coat. The chest fastens with a double clip and two rings for more precise adjustment.

At 300 g, it covers a clipped horse living outdoors, or an older horse that no longer generates enough heat. With less fill, a continental winter becomes a gamble.
🧴 Care instructions
Fasten all the hook-and-loop closures and place the rug in a sturdy wash bag: without one, the hardware bangs against the drum, opens, and rusts. Wash at 30 °C on a delicate cycle, using a detergent specially designed for outdoor rugs. Do not re-waterproof it: the waterproofing comes from a coating applied to the back of the fabric, which a water-repellent product will damage. Once a year, a specialist cleaner can take care of the rest.
