Size: the spur length as specified by Sprenger—the shank alone on models without a rowel, and the shank plus the protruding part of the rowel on the others. This is the size you select above.
Length from the boot: from the heel of the boot to the tip of the spur, including the heel band and rowel. Value provided by Sprenger for each model.

In competition

Regulations measure the spur from the boot, not the shank alone: therefore, the second column is the one that matters. The permitted lengths and rowels depend on the discipline, competition level, federation, and country, and they change from one season to the next. Before entering, check the regulations currently in force for your competition.

Dressage spurs developed with Klaus Balkenhol, made from hand-polished German silver, in a men's size. The rounded shank tip softens the action, while the weight of the metal provides a clear contact feel.
