In competition

Regulations measure the spur from the boot, not the neck alone: therefore, the second column is the one that matters. The permitted lengths and rowels depend on the discipline, the level of the competition, the federation, and the country, and they change from one season to the next. Before entering, check the regulations currently in force for your competition.
