This bit is made of solid Cuprigan — an alloy of 89% copper, 7% aluminum, 3% iron, and 1% zinc — mounted on stainless steel components. As it oxidizes, the material releases a pleasant smell and taste. Its anatomical shape follows the contours of the horse’s mouth and distributes pressure gently and evenly.
The cheeks are removable. A full-cheek snaffle has two vertical bars — the cheeks — in front of the rings. They press against the cheeks, reinforcing steering aids while preventing the bit from being pulled through the mouth. The horse is easy to guide, which makes this bit suitable for young horses. A full-cheek snaffle can be fitted with keepers, which hold it in place and give it a slight leverage effect.

🐎 Why choose this product?
With a double-jointed bit, the mouthpiece consists of three parts, and the central section lies flat on the tongue. This creates more pressure on the tongue than a single-jointed bit, but eliminates the V-shaped effect toward the palate. This is the short-cheek version of this model: the contact area against the cheek is smaller than with 165 mm cheeks.
🧴 Care instructions
Rinse the bit with clean water after each use. ⚠️ Cuprigan tarnishes and turns green as it oxidizes: this is the alloy’s normal behavior, not a defect, and it should not be removed with an abrasive product.
