The Apple Mouth bit is made of plastic with a metal core and releases a subtle apple flavor when it comes into contact with saliva. The horse salivates more, which facilitates acceptance of the bit. The plastic has a 90A hardness approved by the FDA: solvent-free, plasticizer-free, and non-toxic.
At 15 mm, the mouthpiece is relatively narrow, making it suitable for horses with less space in their mouths. The full-cheek snaffle has two vertical bars—the cheeks—positioned in front of the rings. They press against the cheeks and thereby reinforce the steering aids, while preventing the bit from being pulled through the mouth. The horse is easy to steer, which makes this bit suitable for young horses. A full-cheek snaffle can be fitted with keepers, which hold it in place and give it a slight leverage effect.

🐎 Why choose this product?
A flavored bit has no particular mechanical action: it affects acceptance. For a horse that keeps its mouth dry and closed, this can sometimes be what unlocks contact, whereas changing the shape of the mouthpiece would not have helped. The supplier specifies that this bit rests stably in the mouth, with a more responsive action.
🧴 Usage advice
Measure the width from one ring to the other, with the mouthpiece stretched out. ⚠️ A bit that is too narrow pinches the corners of the mouth; one that is too wide moves around in the mouth and knocks against the teeth. Allow approximately half a centimeter of mouthpiece to be visible on each side. ⚠️ Check a plastic mouthpiece regularly: if it is cut or chewed, replace it.
