The Apple Mouth mouthpiece is made of plastic and releases a subtle apple flavor when it comes into contact with saliva. The horse salivates more, which makes accepting the bit easier. At 14 mm, the mouthpiece is relatively narrow, making it suitable for horses with less space in their mouths. The mouthpiece is made of plastic with a metal core, with an FDA-approved hardness of 90A: solvent-free, plasticizer-free, and non-toxic. On a loose-ring snaffle, the rings do not rotate freely, so the aids have a more direct effect than with a loose-ring bit. This type of bit is generally well accepted because the mouthpiece remains relatively stable in the horse’s mouth.

🧴 Usage advice
Measure the width from one ring to the other, with the mouthpiece stretched. ⚠️ A bit that is too narrow pinches the corners of the mouth; one that is too wide moves around in the mouth and knocks against the teeth. Allow approximately half a centimeter of mouthpiece to show on each side. ⚠️ Check a plastic mouthpiece regularly: if it is nicked or chewed, replace it.
