This bit is made from solid Cuprigan — an alloy of 89% copper, 7% aluminum, 3% iron, and 1% zinc — mounted on stainless steel rings. As it oxidizes, the material gives off a pleasant smell and taste. Its anatomical shape follows the contours of the mouth and distributes pressure gently and evenly.
A Baucher bit has upward-curving cheeks ending in a ring, which attaches to the cheekpieces of the headpiece. Unlike other snaffle bits, it has a slight leverage effect and applies pressure behind the ears. The cheeks are angled slightly outward, giving the horse's head greater freedom of movement. The supplier describes it as ideally suited to sensitive horses.

A thin mouthpiece concentrates pressure over a smaller surface area: with the same rein contact, it is felt more strongly than a thick mouthpiece. The 12 mm size is therefore suited to a horse that accepts precise contact, or to a small mouth where a thick mouthpiece would not fit well. ⚠️ The Baucher's slight leverage effect transfers pressure behind the ears: this is not an ordinary snaffle bit.

Rinse the bit with clean water after each use. ⚠️ Cuprigan becomes dull and turns green as it oxidizes: this is the alloy's normal behavior, not a defect, and it should not be removed with an abrasive product.
