This bit is made of solid Cuprigan—a 89% copper, 7% aluminum, 3% iron, and 1% zinc alloy—fitted with stainless steel rings. As it oxidizes, the material releases a pleasant smell and taste. Its anatomical shape follows the contours of the mouth and distributes pressure gently and evenly.

This bit has an additional ring at the top and bottom. Attaching the cheekpieces to the upper rings and the reins to the middle or lower ring creates a leverage effect: the lower the reins are attached, the stronger the effect.

✨ Key features

  • ✔ Solid Cuprigan: its oxidation produces a taste that stimulates salivation
  • ✔ Anatomical shape: pressure is distributed without pressure points
  • ✔ Multiple rein positions: the leverage effect can be adjusted
  • ✔ 70 mm central ring

🐎 Why choose this product?

A thin mouthpiece concentrates pressure over a smaller surface area: with the same hand, it is felt more strongly than a thick mouthpiece. Combined with a leverage effect, it therefore requires an even lighter hand. With a double-jointed mouthpiece, the mouthpiece has three parts, and the central part rests flat on the tongue. This creates more pressure on the tongue than a single-jointed mouthpiece, but eliminates the V-shaped effect toward the palate. ⚠️ The supplier recommends this bit for horses that are hard-mouthed. A leverage effect multiplies the pressure applied by the hand: this is not a bit for beginners, and changing bits never replaces fundamental training.

🧴 Usage tips

Rinse the bit with clean water after each use. ⚠️ Cuprigan tarnishes and turns green as it oxidizes: this is normal behavior for the alloy, not a defect, and it should not be removed with an abrasive product. Choose the rein position at the attachment point: the middle ring for a moderate effect, or the lower ring for a stronger effect. Always start with the gentlest position. ⚠️ A leverage bit requires a measured hand and is preferably used with roundings, which are mandatory in competition with a Pessoa. Measure the width from one ring to the other, with the mouthpiece pulled straight. ⚠️ A bit that is too narrow pinches the corners of the mouth; one that is too wide moves around in the mouth and knocks against the teeth. Allow approximately half a centimeter of mouthpiece to show on each side.
