A full-cheek bit made of blue-patinaed mild steel, with a low tongue-port mouthpiece.
✨ Highlights
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to moist air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ Straight mouthpiece with a low tongue port. It gives the tongue a little more room and distributes pressure correctly across the bars.
- ✔ Two vertical shanks on a fixed ring. These cheeks press against the side of the cheek and noticeably improve steering. The ring is smaller than that of a D-ring bit, so the leverage effect is reduced.

🧴 Instructions for use
⚠️ A bit size is given in millimeters: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit ruler, or measure the bit it currently wears: if it is too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if it is too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The upper cheeks are attached to the bridle with keepers to prevent them from tipping forward. ⚠️ The blue color turns silver-gray or brownish gray with use, and an orange coating appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behavior, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
