A full-cheek snaffle made of blue-patinated mild steel, with a medium tongue-relief barrel.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ Straight barrel with medium tongue relief: more room for the tongue and less pressure at its center.
- ✔ Two vertical cheekpieces on a fixed ring. These cheeks press against the side of the horse's face and make steering noticeably easier. The ring is smaller than that of a D-ring bit, so the leverage effect is lower.

🧴 Care instructions
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the barrel from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; too narrow, it squeezes the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The upper cheeks are secured to the bridle with keepers to prevent them from tipping forward. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
