A loose-ring snaffle with large rings, made of blue-patina mild steel, with a double-jointed mouthpiece featuring an elliptical center link.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel that is blued during manufacture by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ Double-jointed with an elliptical center link. This shape better follows the anatomy of the mouth and allows the bit to sit more freely, but it applies slightly more pressure to the center of the tongue than a single joint.
- ✔ The rings slide freely through the mouthpiece, and their large diameter provides more leverage than an ordinary ring.

🐎 Why choose this product?
The elliptical center link eliminates the pinching effect of a single joint without imposing the firmness of a flat plate: it is the most forgiving double-jointed mouthpiece.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimeters: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit measuring tool, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if it is too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if it is too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ Fit rubber bit guards: pinching occurs between the moving ring and the mouthpiece. ⚠️ The blue color changes to silver-gray or brown-gray with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behavior, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
