An eggbutt 2.5-ring bit made of blue-patina Sweet Iron, with a low tongue port.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a sweet-tasting surface oxidation that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ Straight mouthpiece with a low tongue port. It provides a little more room for the tongue and distributes pressure correctly across the bars.
- ✔ A milder version of the three-ring (Pessoa) bit: leverage is present, and becomes more pronounced when the rein is attached lower down. As the rings are fixed, the bit moves less in the mouth than a 2.5-ring bit with loose rings.

🐎 Why choose this product?
A little room for the tongue without raising the bit toward the palate: the first step toward tongue freedom when a simple joint presses too much in the centre.
🧴 Directions for use
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or measure the bit it currently wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ Leverage acts on the poll: fit it with a light hand and check the cheekpiece adjustment. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
