An eggbutt bit made of mild steel with a blue patina and a low tongue port.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacture by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ Straight mouthpiece with a low tongue port. It provides a little more room for the tongue and distributes pressure correctly across the bars.
- ✔ The rings do not slide: the bit maintains a stable position in the mouth, and the action of the hand is transmitted more directly. The eggbutt sides do not pinch the lips, so bit guards are unnecessary.

🐎 Why choose this product?
A little room for the tongue without freeing the palate: the first step toward tongue freedom when a simple joint puts too much pressure in the centre.
🧴 Care instructions
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
