An eggbutt bit made of mild steel with a blue patina and a medium tongue-relief mouthpiece.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ Straight mouthpiece with medium tongue relief: more room for the tongue and less pressure on its center.
- ✔ The rings do not slide: the bit stays in a stable position in the mouth, and the rein aid is transmitted more directly. The eggbutt rings do not pinch the lips, so bit guards are unnecessary.

🧴 Care instructions
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimeters: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit ruler, or measure the bit it currently wears: if it is too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if it is too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue color turns silver-gray or brown-gray with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal for Sweet Iron, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
