A Sweet Iron eggbutt bit with a blue patina and a Cherry Roller mouthpiece.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ Single-jointed mouthpiece fitted with free-rolling rollers on each side. The rollers discourage the horse from grabbing the bit or holding it between its teeth.
- ✔ The rings do not slide: the bit stays in a stable position in the mouth and the rein aid is transmitted more directly. The eggbutt cheeks do not pinch the lips, so bit guards are unnecessary.

🐎 Why choose this product?
The rollers keep a horse's mouth occupied when it tries to hold the bit between its teeth—a fault that ruins all contact.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or measure the bit it currently wears: if it is too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if it is too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal for Sweet Iron, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
