✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel blued during manufacture by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ Double-jointed design with a wide tongue port. Unlike other double-jointed bits, it reduces pressure on the tongue instead of increasing it.
- ✔ The rings do not slide: the bit stays in a stable position in the mouth and the rein aid is transmitted more directly. The eggbutt cheeks do not pinch the lips, so bit guards are unnecessary.
- ✔ Used on horses that do not accept pressure on the tongue.

🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit ruler, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it presses into the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is the normal behaviour of Sweet Iron, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
