A Baucher bit made of Sweet Iron with a blue patina and a Cherry Roller barrel.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacture by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a sweet-tasting surface oxidation that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ Single-jointed barrel fitted with free-rolling rollers on each side. The rollers discourage the horse from grabbing the bit or locking it between its teeth.
- ✔ Fixed-ring cheek piece extended by an upper branch to which the bridle attaches. The bit remains very stable in the mouth.

🐎 Why choose this product?
The rollers occupy the mouth of a horse that tries to lock its bit between its teeth—a habit that ruins all contact.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the barrel from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit-sizing gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is the normal behaviour of Sweet Iron, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
