- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ A succession of articulated elliptical links: the barrel conforms to every shape and provides no fixed point of leverage. Used on horses that are heavy in the hand and have difficulty relaxing their jaws.
- ✔ Fixed-ring cheekpiece extended by an upper shank to which the bridle attaches. The bit remains very stable in the mouth.

🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: this is the width of the barrel from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit ruler, or use the measurement of the bit it currently wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ Very mobile barrel, reserved for experienced, steady hands.
