A Baucher bit in blue-patina mild steel, with a Wideport Segundo barrel featuring tongue relief.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to moist air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ Double-jointed with a wide tongue relief. Unlike other double-jointed bits, it reduces pressure on the tongue instead of increasing it.
- ✔ Fixed-ring cheekpiece extended by an upper shank to which the bridle attaches. The bit remains very stable in the horse's mouth.
- ✔ Used on horses that do not accept pressure on the tongue.

🐎 Why choose this product?
The only double-jointed bit that reduces pressure on the tongue instead of increasing it: the answer for horses that resist tongue pressure.
🧴 How to use
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the barrel from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
