- ✔ Sweet Iron is a mild steel that is blued during manufacture by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ The single joint locks as soon as it bends: under rein tension, the mouthpiece then acts like a straight mouthpiece, which increases its action. As soon as the tension is released, it becomes a single joint again.
- ✔ Loose rings with two inner half-rings, providing a slight leverage effect. The bridle cheekpiece attaches to the upper half-ring, and the rein to the large ring or lower half-ring.
- ✔ Corrective mouthpiece, designed for horses that lean on the hand or run through the contact.

It gives you two bits in one: a single joint when the hand is light, and a straight mouthpiece as soon as the horse leans on it. The horse discovers for itself that it is better not to pull.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
