A Beval bit made of mild steel with a blue patina and a mouthpiece with a low tongue port.

✨ Key features

  • ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
  • ✔ Straight mouthpiece with a low tongue port. It leaves a little more room for the tongue and distributes pressure correctly across the bars.
  • ✔ Loose rings with two inner half-rings, providing a slight leverage effect. The bridle cheekpiece attaches to the upper half-ring, while the rein attaches to the large ring or the lower half-ring.

📋 Technical specifications

  • Type: Beval bit
  • Material: Sweet Iron
  • Mouthpiece: with a low tongue port
  • Mouthpiece thickness: 16 mm
  • Sizes (mm): 115 / 125 / 135 / 145

🐎 Why choose this product?

A little extra room for the tongue without freeing up the palate: the first step toward greater tongue freedom when a single-jointed mouthpiece applies too much pressure at the center.

🧴 Instructions for use

⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring strip, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it squeezes the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange coating appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.

About TRUST Equestrian ...

TRUST Equestrian is a Dutch brand specializing in bits and leatherwork. Its bits are designed, developed, and manufactured in the Netherlands, where a team of technicians assembles them by hand. Production of Sweet Iron mouthpieces began more than fifteen years ago, followed by Leather and then Inno Sense mouthpieces. The range now includes three materials, twenty-two mouthpieces, and thirty-four types of shanks, totaling more than two thousand different bits. TRUST bits are anatomically shaped: slightly curved, they follow the shape of the horse’s mouth. The leather collection is made from European full-grain leather, and each model takes the anatomy of the modern horse into account.
