✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ A single twisted joint that locks when it bends: under tension, the mouthpiece acts like a straight mouthpiece, then becomes a single-jointed mouthpiece again as soon as the hand gives. The twist adds edges, creating a sharper action.
- ✔ Loose rings with two inner half-rings, allowing a slight leverage effect. The bridle cheekpiece attaches to the upper half-ring, and the rein to the large ring or lower half-ring.

🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit measuring tool, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour changes to silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is the normal functioning of Sweet Iron, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ Corrective mouthpiece for horses that lean on the bit or run through the hand. Not suitable for sensitive horses or inexperienced riders.
