✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacture by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ A series of articulated elliptical links: the mouthpiece follows every contour and provides no fixed point of leverage. Used on horses that are heavy in the hand and have difficulty relaxing their jaw.
- ✔ Loose rings with two inner half-rings, providing a slight leverage effect. The bridle cheekpiece attaches to the upper half-ring, while the rein attaches to the large ring or the lower half-ring.

There is no fixed point of leverage: the heavy-in-the-hand horse has nothing to lean against. Reserve it for steady hands, as its mobility leaves no room for a moving hand.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit ruler, or measure the bit it currently wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orangey film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ Very mobile mouthpiece, reserved for experienced, steady hands.
