A blue-patinated Sweet Iron Curbgag bit with a single-jointed twisted mouthpiece.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacture by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ Single joint with both arms twisted. The twist creates edges, resulting in a more incisive action on the bars than a smooth single joint.
- ✔ A cross between a Pelham and a loose-ring gag bit: a loose ring with two holes on each side, through which a leather strap passes. The points of pressure are the chin and poll. It can be used with one or two reins.

🐎 Why choose this product?
The twist intensifies the action on the bars: this is a bit for occasional corrective use and should not be left in a horse's mouth for extended periods.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if it is too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if it is too narrow, it squeezes the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ Combined leverage and curb-chain action: for experienced riders only. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ This mouthpiece is not suitable for sensitive horses or inexperienced riders.
