A fixed-cheek curb bit made of blue-patinated mild steel, with a mouthpiece featuring medium tongue relief.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a sweet-tasting surface oxidation that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ Straight mouthpiece with medium tongue relief: more room for the tongue and less pressure on its center.
- ✔ Fixed-cheek curb bit: the mouthpiece does not pivot on the cheeks, so the action is direct. It is used with a bridle, alongside the snaffle, with a curb chain.

🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ A bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit ruler, or measure the bit it currently wears: if it is too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if it is too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ A curb bit must always be used with a snaffle and a curb chain, with two pairs of reins. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
