A fixed-shank baby curb bit made of mild steel with a blue patina, featuring a medium tongue-relief port.

✨ Key features

  • ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
  • ✔ Straight mouthpiece with a medium tongue-relief port: more room for the tongue and less pressure on its center.
  • ✔ Compact curb bit with fixed shanks: the mouthpiece does not pivot, so the action is direct.

📋 Technical specifications

🐎 Why choose this product?

The most common compromise between pressure on the bars and tongue freedom.

🧴 Care and use instructions

⚠️ Bit size is given in millimeters: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it currently wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ A curb bit must always be used with a snaffle bridle and curb chain, with two pairs of reins. ⚠️ The blue color turns silver-gray or brownish gray with use, and an orange-colored film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behavior, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.

About TRUST Equestrian ...

TRUST Equestrian is a Dutch brand specializing in bits and leatherwork. Its bits are designed, developed, and manufactured in the Netherlands, where a team of technicians assembles them by hand. Production of Sweet Iron mouthpieces began more than fifteen years ago, followed by Leather and then Inno Sense mouthpieces. The range now includes three materials, twenty-two mouthpieces, and thirty-four types of shanks, totaling more than two thousand different bits. TRUST bits are anatomically shaped: slightly curved, they follow the shape of the horse’s mouth. The leather collection is made from European full-grain leather, and each model takes the anatomy of the modern horse into account.
