- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ The center of the barrel is fitted with brass rings. It is suitable for horses with a “dead” mouth that need stimulation, and increases tongue activity.
- ✔ Small loose rings that slide through the barrel, making the action less direct. This format can be used as a bridoon on a double bridle (12 mm) or as a barrel for a hackamore (12 or 16 mm).

🧴 Usage tips
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimeters: this is the width of the barrel from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit measuring tool, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it presses against the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ Fit rubber bit guards to prevent pinching at the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue color changes to silver-gray or brown-gray with use, and an orange-colored film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behavior, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ On a horse that is already restless in the mouth, this stimulation may have the opposite effect.
