A Sweet Iron eggbutt bridle snaffle in blue-patinated mild steel, with a low tongue-relief mouthpiece.

✨ Key features

  • ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
  • ✔ Straight mouthpiece with low tongue relief. It provides a little more room for the tongue and distributes pressure correctly across the bars.
  • ✔ Small fixed rings: stable positioning in the mouth and direct action. This format is used as the snaffle on a bridle (12 mm) or as the mouthpiece for a hackamore (12 or 16 mm).

📋 Technical specifications

  • Type: eggbutt bridle snaffle
  • Material: Sweet Iron
  • Mouthpiece: low tongue relief
  • Mouthpiece thickness: 16 mm
  • Sizes (mm): 115 / 125 / 135 / 145

🐎 Why choose this product?

A little room for the tongue without lifting the bit away from the palate: the first step toward tongue freedom when a single-jointed mouthpiece applies too much pressure in the center.

🧴 Instructions for use

⚠️ A bit size is given in millimeters: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit ruler, or use the measurement of the bit it currently wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue color changes to silver-gray or brown-gray with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behavior, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.

About TRUST Equestrian ...

TRUST Equestrian is a Dutch brand specializing in bits and leatherwork. Its bits are designed, developed, and manufactured in the Netherlands, where a team of technicians assembles them by hand. Production of Sweet Iron mouthpieces began more than fifteen years ago, followed by Leather and then Inno Sense mouthpieces. The range now includes three materials, twenty-two mouthpieces, and thirty-four types of shanks, totaling more than two thousand different bits. TRUST bits are anatomically shaped: slightly curved, they follow the shape of the horse’s mouth. The leather collection is made from European full-grain leather, and each model takes the anatomy of the modern horse into account.
