A loose-ring bridle bit made of mild steel with a blue patina and a mouthpiece with high tongue relief.

✨ Key features

  • ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel that is blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
  • ✔ Straight mouthpiece with high tongue relief, providing ample clearance for the center of the tongue.
  • ✔ Small fixed rings: stable position in the mouth and direct action. This format is used as a bridoon on a double bridle (12 mm) or as a mouthpiece for a hackamore (12 or 16 mm).

📋 Technical specifications

  • Type: loose-ring bridle bit
  • Material: Sweet Iron
  • Mouthpiece: high tongue relief
  • Mouthpiece thickness: 16 mm
  • Sizes (mm): 145

🐎 Why choose this product?

The greatest tongue freedom in the range, for a horse that cannot tolerate any central pressure.

🧴 Instructions for use

⚠️ Bit size is given in millimeters: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit ruler, or measure the bit it currently wears: too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue color turns silver-gray or brown-gray with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behavior, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ The higher the tongue relief, the more important it is to check that it does not come into contact with the palate.

About TRUST Equestrian ...

TRUST Equestrian is a Dutch brand specializing in bits and leatherwork. Its bits are designed, developed, and manufactured in the Netherlands, where a team of technicians assembles them by hand. Production of Sweet Iron mouthpieces began more than fifteen years ago, followed by Leather and then Inno Sense mouthpieces. The range now includes three materials, twenty-two mouthpieces, and thirty-four types of shanks, totaling more than two thousand different bits. TRUST bits are anatomically shaped: slightly curved, they follow the shape of the horse’s mouth. The leather collection is made from European full-grain leather, and each model takes the anatomy of the modern horse into account.
