A Sweet Iron eggbutt bridle snaffle with a blue-patina finish and a Dr. Bristol double-jointed mouthpiece.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel blued during manufacturing through heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a sweet-tasting surface oxidation that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ Double-jointed mouthpiece with a flat central plate. When the bit rotates, pressure is distributed between the center and the sides of the tongue.
- ✔ Small fixed rings: stable position in the mouth and direct action. This format is used as a snaffle on a bridle (12 mm) or as a mouthpiece for a hackamore (12 or 16 mm).
- ✔ More incisive mouthpiece than a classic double-jointed bit: the plate acts edge-on against the tongue.

🧴 Instructions for use
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimeters: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it presses the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue color changes to silver-gray or brown-gray with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is the normal behavior of Sweet Iron, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
