A Sweet Iron eggbutt snaffle bit in blue-patinated mild steel, with a twisted single-jointed mouthpiece.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ Single joint with both branches twisted. The twisting creates edges, resulting in a sharper action on the bars than a smooth single joint.
- ✔ Small fixed rings: stable position in the mouth and direct action. This format is used as the bridoon on a double bridle (12 mm) or as a mouthpiece for a hackamore (12 or 16 mm).

🐎 Why choose this product?
The twisting sharpens the action on the bars: this is a bit for occasional corrective use and should not be left in a horse's mouth permanently.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit ruler, or measure the bit it currently wears: if it is too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if it is too narrow, it presses on the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is sufficient to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ This mouthpiece is not suitable for sensitive horses or inexperienced riders.
