A short combined hackamore bit made of mild steel with a blue patina and a grooved mouthpiece.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel blued during manufacture by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ Mouthpiece with a grooved surface along its entire length. The grooves provide more grip on the bars than a smooth mouthpiece.
- ✔ Combines a hackamore and a bit: pressure is distributed between the mouth and the nose. The short shanks provide moderate leverage. An adjustment screw is located above the mouthpiece.

🐎 Why choose this product?
The grooves provide more bite than a smooth mouthpiece without going as far as a twisted one: an intermediate option when a smooth mouthpiece is no longer enough.
🧴 Usage instructions
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a ruler, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The hackamore acts on the nasal bone: make sure the noseband rests on the bone and not on the cartilage of the nostrils. ⚠️ The blue colour changes to silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orangey film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ More severe than a smooth mouthpiece: avoid using it on a sensitive mouth.
