A short combination hackamore bit made of mild steel with a blue patina and a ball Waterford mouthpiece.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel that is blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ A series of articulated elliptical links: the mouthpiece follows every contour and provides no fixed point of support. Used on heavy-mouthed horses that have difficulty relaxing their jaw.
- ✔ A combination of a hackamore and a bit: pressure is distributed between the mouth and the nose. The short shanks provide moderate leverage. An adjustment screw is located above the mouthpiece.

🐎 Why choose this product?
There is no fixed point of support: a heavy-mouthed horse finds nothing to lean against. Reserve it for steady hands, as its mobility does not forgive a moving hand.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit ruler, or measure the bit it currently wears: too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ The hackamore acts on the nose bridge: make sure the noseband rests on the bone and not on the nostril cartilage. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is the normal behaviour of Sweet Iron, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ Very mobile mouthpiece, reserved for experienced, steady hands.
