A long combined hackamore bit made of blue-patina Sweet Iron, with a single-jointed mouthpiece.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ A single joint. This mouthpiece puts less pressure on the tongue than a double-jointed one and works mainly on the bars and sides of the tongue. This is the standard mouthpiece.
- ✔ Combines a hackamore and a bit: pressure is distributed between the mouth, nose, and jaw. The long shanks increase leverage, and therefore intensity.

This is the mouthpiece most horses are familiar with: the one you start with, and return to when you want to determine what comes from the bit and what comes from the rider's hand.
🧴 Instructions for use
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimeters: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit measuring tool, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it squeezes the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ Significant leverage: reserved for experienced riders. Make sure the noseband rests on the bone and not on the cartilage of the nostrils. ⚠️ The blue color turns silver-gray or brown-gray with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is the normal behavior of Sweet Iron, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
