- ✔ Sweet Iron is a mild steel that is blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ Double-jointed with a flat central plate. When the bit tilts, pressure is distributed between the center and the sides of the tongue.
- ✔ Combines a hackamore and a bit: pressure is distributed between the mouth, nose, and jaw. The long shanks increase leverage and therefore intensity.
- ✔ More incisive mouthpiece than a standard double-jointed one: the plate acts edge-on against the tongue.

🧴 Usage tips
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimeters: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit ruler, or measure the bit it currently wears: too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ Significant leverage: for experienced riders only. Check that the noseband rests on the bone and not on the cartilage of the nostrils. ⚠️ The blue color changes to silver-gray or brown-gray with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behavior, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.
