A Kimblehook bit made of mild steel with a blue patina and a barrel featuring brass rings.
✨ Key benefits
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
- ✔ The barrel is fitted with brass rings in the center. It is suitable for horses with a “dead” mouth that need stimulation, and increases tongue activity.
- ✔ Similar to a Kimblewick, with greater leverage. It can be used with one or two reins: the lower the rein, the stronger the action.

🐎 Why choose this product?
The brass reawakens a mouth that no longer salivates or shows activity: this is a bit for getting things moving again, not an everyday bit.
🧴 Usage advice
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimeters: this is the width of the barrel from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse’s mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it currently wears: if it is too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if it is too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ A curb chain is essential. ⚠️ The blue color turns silver-gray or brown-gray with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is the normal behavior of Sweet Iron, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ On a horse that is already restless in the mouth, this stimulation may have the opposite effect.
