A Kimblehook bit made of blue-patinated sweet iron, with a low tongue port mouthpiece.

✨ Key features

  • ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit more readily.
  • ✔ Straight mouthpiece with a low tongue port. It leaves a little more room for the tongue and distributes pressure correctly across the bars.
  • ✔ Similar to a Kimblewick, with greater leverage. It can be used with one or two reins: the lower the rein, the stronger the action.

📋 Technical specifications

  • Type: Kimblehook bit
  • Material: Sweet Iron
  • Mouthpiece: low tongue port
  • Mouthpiece thickness: 16 mm
  • Sizes (mm): 115 / 125 / 135 / 145

🐎 Why choose this product?

A little more room for the tongue without opening up the palate: the first step toward tongue freedom when a simple joint presses too much in the center.

🧴 Care instructions

⚠️ Bit size is given in millimeters: this is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a bit ruler, or use the measurement of the bit it wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ A curb chain is essential. ⚠️ The blue color turns silver-gray or brown-gray with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behavior, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful.

About TRUST Equestrian ...

TRUST Equestrian is a Dutch brand specializing in bits and leatherwork. Its bits are designed, developed, and manufactured in the Netherlands, where a team of technicians assembles them by hand. Production of Sweet Iron mouthpieces began more than fifteen years ago, followed by Leather and then Inno Sense mouthpieces. The range now includes three materials, twenty-two mouthpieces, and thirty-four types of shanks, totaling more than two thousand different bits. TRUST bits are anatomically shaped: slightly curved, they follow the shape of the horse’s mouth. The leather collection is made from European full-grain leather, and each model takes the anatomy of the modern horse into account.
