A Kimblehook bit made of blue-patina sweet iron, with a twisted mouthpiece and locking lozenge.
✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacturing by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ Simple twisted joint that locks when it bends: under tension, the mouthpiece acts like a straight mouthpiece, then becomes a simple joint again as soon as the hand gives. The twist adds edges, resulting in a sharper action.
- ✔ Similar to a Kimblewick, with greater leverage. It can be used with one or two reins: the lower the rein, the stronger the action.

🧴 Instructions for use
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the mouthpiece from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it currently wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it presses the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ A curb chain is essential. ⚠️ The blue colour changes to silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit remains unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is enough to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ Corrective mouthpiece for horses that lean on the bit or run through the hand. Not suitable for sensitive horses or inexperienced riders.
