✨ Key features
- ✔ Sweet Iron is mild steel, blued during manufacture by heating. When exposed to humid air and saliva, it develops a surface oxidation with a sweet taste that naturally stimulates salivation: the horse chews more and accepts the bit better.
- ✔ A series of articulated elliptical links: the barrel conforms to every shape and provides no fixed point of leverage. Used on horses that are heavy in the hand and have difficulty relaxing their jaw.
- ✔ Similar to a Kimblewick, with greater leverage. It can be fitted with one or two reins: the lower the rein, the stronger the action.

No fixed point of leverage: the heavy-in-the-hand horse has nothing to lean against. Reserve it for experienced hands, as its mobility does not forgive an unsteady hand.
🧴 Instructions for use
⚠️ Bit size is given in millimetres: it is the width of the barrel from one ring to the other. A 125 measures 12.5 cm. Measure your horse's mouth with a measuring gauge, or use the measurement of the bit it currently wears: if too wide, the bit moves around and pinches; if too narrow, it tightens the corners of the mouth. ⚠️ A curb chain is essential. ⚠️ The blue colour turns silver-grey or brown-grey with use, and an orange film appears when the bit is left unused: this is normal Sweet Iron behaviour, not a defect. A wipe with a damp cloth is sufficient to remove it. This oxidation is not harmful. ⚠️ Very mobile barrel, reserved for experienced, steady hands.
